Yellowjackets - A Rise In The Road (2013) [HDTracks]

    Artist: Yellowjackets
Title: A Rise In The Road
    Year Of Release: 2013
    Label: Mack Avenue Records
Genre: Contemporary Jazz, Fusion, Smooth Jazz
    Quality: FLAC (tracks) [24Bit/96kHz]
    Total Time: 57:46
    Total Size: 1,29 GB
2013 release from the veteran Jazz outfit. A Rise In The Road is indeed an appropriate title for a time-honored ensemble that has never been fearful of facing newer musical horizons, not to mention the myriad challenges of life itself. Produced by Ferrante, Mintzer and Kennedy, A Rise In The Road stands shoulder-to-shoulder with their 21 previous efforts.
    Tracklist:
01 - When the Lady Dances
    02 - Civil War
    03 - Can't We Elope
    04 - An Informed Decision
    05 - Longing
    06 - Thank You
    07 - Madrugada
08 - An Amber Shade of Blue
    09 - (You'll Know) When It's Time
    10 - I Knew His Father
The title of this Yellowjackets effort is an apt one. The departure of co-founding bassist Jimmy Haslip in 2012 left a huge hole in the lineup. Haslip wasn't only the group's bassist, but one of its most productive composers. Founding pianist/keyboardist Russell Ferrante, with longtime members saxophonist Bob Mintzer and drummer Will Kennedy, eventually chose Felix Pastorius, son of the mighty Jaco, and a seasoned performer in his own right. (On a number of tracks here, he plays his father's bass, loaned to him by its owner, Metallica's Robert Trujillo.) The younger man doesn't play with the same "lead bass" flash of his dad - at least in the studio - his style here reflects the role Haslip played, but his tone and nimbleness are his own. (Check his fleet-fingered work as it meets Ferrante's arpeggios in "Thank You.") The band still carries within it the meld of contemporary and straight-ahead jazz - with Mintzer there is always going to be a nod to post-bop in there - but the feel is far more immediate and organic. They departed from their usual recording procedure and cut the album live in the studio, adding relatively few overdubs later. Mintzer's opener, "When the Lady Dances," is a straight-ahead post-bop number that pops and swings with a fine understated solo by Ferrante. The pianist offers "Can't We Elope," a rewrite of Herbie Hancock's "Canteloupe." It's one of three tracks here that features the trumpet of Ambrose Akinmusire. The meaty piano groove and the twin horns offer a stylish, fresh take on soulful hard bop. Another of the pianist's compositions "An Amber Shade of Blue," features a knotty head with some fiery call and response between Akinmusire and Mintzer - the track fades in what seems like mid-jam. Mintzer's "I Knew His Father" is both a welcome to the younger Pastorius and a nod to Jaco-the saxophonist played in the Word of Mouth Band and was present at Felix's birth- drawing a large circle to a close. Its meld of Latin groove, punchy swing, and boppish blues, offers the younger bassist a fine opportunity to comp, fill, and run the board as the band gets deep inside the melody. A Rise in the Road provides longtime Yellowjackets' fans plenty; but more importantly, it delivers a a bracing new approach and a renewed sense of swinging adventure.

During the late Fifties and early Sixties in the US the saxophone of Plas Johnson was a ubiquitous sound on radio. Known as the horn behind the hits, he was famous as the tenor sax on the celebrated 1963 Pink Panther main theme recording. Born near New Orleans, he moved to the west coast at a very young age and there launched a career that made him one of the most sought-after studio musicians on the Los Angeles scene, with a great reputation built largely on his remarkable ability to play any style of music with taste and restraint.
The two Capitol albums here epitomize this. On This Must Be the Plas! (1959), he is accompanied by three small groups with slight personnel changes, and although Plas is the main voiceon tenor, baritone and alto saxeverybody else in the group has his own solo space. Mood for the Blues (1960) features Plas on tenor with strings and rhythm, the tasteful arrangements of Gerald Wilson and René Hall forming a fine background for his solo work. Also included here is his first single for Capitol, including his smash hit The Big Twist and Come Rain or Come Shine. His warm tone and naturally easy style is as greatly admired by other musicians as it is by jazz and pop music fans. It resulted in the kind of soulful, pretty and well-controlled sound that gave universal enjoyment.

John Fogerty - John Fogerty (1975)

    Artist: John Fogerty
    Title: John Fogerty
    Year Of Release: 1975
    Label: Fantasy [CD 9497-2]
Genre: Roots rock, Country Rock, Rock 'n' Roll
    Quality: FLAC (image+.cue+.log,scans)
    Total Time: 31:56
    Total Size: 237 MB
This one-man extravaganza finds John Fogerty plowing the same ground he worked with Creedence Clearwater Revival. This mix of originals and rock & roll classics finds him in fine voice, with the familiar vocal scream and hot guitars augmented in places by saxophones reminiscent of CCR's "Travelin' Band." Several of these songs rank with the top tier of Fogerty's Creedence material, particularly "The Wall," "Almost Saturday Night," and the anthemic "Rockin' All Over the World." He also delivers satisfying versions of Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops" and Frankie Ford's "Sea Cruise" (written by Huey "Piano" Smith). The closer, "Flyin' Away," could have come off the Doobie Brothers' Toulouse Street. This underappreciated album is worth checking out.
    Tracklist:
    01. Rockin' All Over The World (02:53)
    02. You Rascal You (02:41)
    03. The Wall (02:55)
    04. Travelin' High (03:17)
    05. Lonely Teardrops (04:27)
    06. Almost Saturday Night (02:28)
    07. Where The River Flows (02:30)
    08. Sea Cruise (03:12)
    09. Dream-Song (03:10)
    10. Flyin' Away (04:20)

Aldina Duarte - Mulheres Ao Espelho (2008)

    Genre: Folk, World, Fado
    Quality: Mp3 320 kbps / FLAC (log,image+cue)
    Total Time: 0:35:42
    Total Size: 120 / 212 Mb (scans)
    Tracklist:
    01. No Fim (Fado Marcha Do Marceneiro)
    02. Princesa Prometida (Fado Triplicado)
    03. Não vou, Não vou (Criação De Lucília Do Carmo)
    04. Uma Amante (Fado Rosa)
    05. Uma Noiva (Fado Rosita)
    06. Rua Mais Lisboeta (Criação De Hermínia Da Silva)
    07. Quadras de Amor Errante (Fado Marques Do Amaral)
    08. Paraiso Anunciado (Fado Vianinha)
    09. O Amor Não Se Desata (Fado José António De Sextilhas)
    10. Barro Divino (Criação De Maria José Da Guia)
    11. Mãe
In this third album, Aldina Duarte had the urge to tell a story about women, over the 11 songs that comprise this CD. Each fate closes a single story that stands on its own, with a beginning, middle and end. "Mulheres Ao Espelho of Aldina Duarte" (title of the article by Maria João Seixas at the opening of the inlay of the CD) is a constant challenge to the senses, the deepest feelings, that will take in the universal meaning of every man, every woman, sometimes together sometimes separate.

A page in the history..... This album contains just four songs, is something like a mini live EP. The sound is great no perfect but well-mixed, Lady Fantasy is a great song but live is better, Pete adds an amazing keyboard solo at the end of this one, Six ate is a good song from their first album but I would prefer Earthrise or Freefall despite is a great song alive.
Then The White Rider is one of my favorite songs of the early Camel, this version is great, I think Camel is a great band playing alive, they are very creative playing on stage the best proof is the next song Gods of Light revisted this one sounds like a Santana song, the bass line is very catchy also is totally instrumental.
This little live album is very good if you want to listen Camel on their early Era, I like it , sadly is very difficult to find a copy of this live album so good luck if you are looking for it. 4 starts to this great live album.
    Tracklist:
    01. Lady Fantasy (Latimer, Bardens, Ward, Ferguson)
    02. Six Ate (Latimer)
    03. White Rider (Latimer)
    04. God Of Light (Bardens)
    ************************
    Andrew Latimer: guitars
    Peter Bardens: keyboards
    Andy Ward: drums
    Doug Ferguson: bass

    03. Fuel Us All (03:33)
    04. Little One (03:53)

    09. The More You're Holding (The More You've Got) (04:05)
    10. Copicat (04:28)
CHIMNEY is a new project, but the man responsible for it - Dan Molad - has quite an impressive resume. His main gig for the past few years has been drummer/producer for Lucius, but he's also produced records for KCRW favorites Luke Temple, JD McPherson, and Here We Go Magic (amongst others).
Given that pedigree, it should come as no surprise that this debut self titled album sounds incredible, and incredibly assured. Even as Molad explores some pretty heavy subject matter on most of these songs, the relaxed beauty that prevails throughout makes for a delightful and ultimately soothing listening experience.

SassyBlack - New Black Swing (2017) Lossless

    Artist: SassyBlack
    Title: New Black Swing
    Year Of Release: 2017
    Label: Space Theory Records
Genre: R&B, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Swing, Pop
    Quality: FLAC (tracks)
    Total Time: 30:00 min
    Total Size: 189 MB
    Tracklist:
    01. Games
    02. Passion Paradise
    03. Satisfied
    04. I'll Wait for You
    05. Wild
    06. What We Gonna Do
    07. Watching You
    08. Glitches
    09. Worthy
In a glorious groove, SassyBlack has created her finest project to date. New Black Swing is Black's step into maturity. Full of spacious synths, heavy bass and sweet R&B vocals, she's tapped into her soul in a fresh fulfilling fashion.
Smooth, silky, jazzy, funk are some of the terms that come to mind with her approach to this record. Often venturing into extreme vulnerability, Sassy shares intimate sides of herself that have only been playfully touched on in past projects.
You may be familiar with the vocal stylings of SassyBlack as she was half of the dynamic duo THEESatisfaction and also appear on Shabazz Palaces records Black Up & Lese Majesty (released on Sub Pop Records).
This album is all about positive energy & satire as Black effortly recreates the sound of 90's New Jack Swing while keeping her psychedelic funky sound in tack.
